What happened at the second Symposium

This is what happened, in no particular order:

  • A brassy arrival of three Vorticians in stately procession bore the Mop (designated by Louie as the Standard, Staff and Wand of Authority for the weekend) to the house, accompanied by 'The Last Post' played on the Trumpet. Some Quakers and three muddy horses watched.
  • There was a mandolin, two guitars, a kazoo, the Trumpet, a fiddle, an accordion, and some drums. These produced, amongst other things, Rufus Wainwright and Shaggy reimagined in the folk style, along with some freeform fairground fiddle-dub and other unnameable non-genres.
  • A radio play was brainstormed. A full first draft is expected soon, to be reviewed and fine-tuned for the next Symposium .
  • Similarities were revealed between the writings of Hakim Bey and the Doctrine Commission of the Church of England.
  • The usefulness of sacred time was considered. The Gate, it appeared, can risk becoming something of a revolving door. The Faculty considered how to stop it banging in the wind (and also, just in case, how to make music from irregular slamming sounds).
  • At a critical juncture, the Duck of Goom (with the Mop of Authority up its backside) was formally marched along the drive accompanied by a squeaky band.
  • We were told not to feed the horses.
  • We made plans
  • The collective mind of the Prophets Of GOOM agreed on its strategy for the next 'Swallow It' event, currently expected to take place in April.
