SettingTheIntent

Setting the intent is not the same as deciding on the result that you want. The intent is to applied chaos theory as plumbing is to your water system. It's the HOW of getting to where you need to go, not the WHERE of where you want to go.

So, for example, the stated intent of the University of Openess is to work within the principles of autonomy and 'openess', and this is reflected in the wiki technology that enables the University to grow new faculties. The intent is structurally incorporated.

Where it gets confusing is that the HOW is arguably in many ways also the WHAT. The process is the final goal . But that's where you have to focus and unfocus at the same time: a fixed commitment to the intent without seeming to be committed thus.

Traditional chaos magic sets the intent through achieving gnosis and then commits the practitioner to forgetting about it . This has the effect of driving the intent into the subconscious and out into the supra-conscious, such that microcosm (mind) and macrocosm (chaosphere) begin the infitisimal adjustments towards one another that bring the envisioned outcome closer.
