[edit] Report from Bristol Urban Olympics.
From 03/10/03 to 05/10/03, the University of Openess and associate organisations fielded several teams for the Bristol Urban Olympics.
After some debate about UrbanOlympicsPlanning, and several challenges being offered, the Uo teams competed fiercely in almost all events, with much success.
This success was, to some extent, documented on the Collective Manouvers site, but not all.
To set the record straight, here are the real results:
[edit] (As Yet) Unofficiated Uo Wins
- http://duo.irational.org/collective_manouvers/documentation/thumb/stone_throwing_tatterdandelion_paddy01.jpg http://duo.irational.org/collective_manouvers/documentation/thumb/stone_throwing_twenteenth_century_vs_meinebank.jpg - stone launching. Uo claims win, as Tatterdandelion cheated. Rules of challenge state: "a water surface or future ground. Stones should be launched manually or via a handcrafted-built apparatus (in this case recycled materials are a must)". Tatterdandelion constructed 1 apparatus (see http://duo.irational.org/collectivemanouvers/documentation/thumb/stonethrowingtatterdandelionpaddy01.jpg) , very disfunctional, then 'won' using a found a plastic fishing catapault. Rules stipulate hand-launched or hand-crafted launcher. Recycled materials, not found apparatus. Uo camera-strap slingshot, (see http://duo.irational.org/collectivemanouvers/documentation/stonethrowingtwenteenthcenturyvsmeinebank.jpg) qualifies and won by a mile.
- downhill rolling: impromptu event, not documented, but won comfortably by Uo.
- http://duo.irational.org/collective_manouvers/documentation/thumb/bicycle_race_twenteenthcentury_lottie.jpg portraiture competition , not documented, Uo wins as was only entrant. (see portraits here )
The Uo Historification Committee has contacted the organisers to amend this inaccuracy.
More documentation with more specific commentary to be added.
