LucidDreams

A space that's not sleep, ie you're in control of your consciousness, but you're in mythic time and not linear time. That is, the space in which you see things dynamically in terms of an imagination of their archetypes, not simply a verbalisation of how they manifest.

A key aspect of lucid dreams is that the information they deliver is in narrative form and not in fixed and discrete units. This enables potential interpretations to proliferate (the nervous system of meaning), without losing its organising principle (spinal column).

Another aspect that distinguishes lucid dreams from the analytical mode of understanding is that the information available is clearly seen to be interacting with the dreamer, whereas in the scientific mode the fiction of detachment must be maintained in order for any benefit to accrue.

Lucid dreams are apt to create as many problems as they solve, and as such should not be seen as the key to anything. They are extremely effective, however, as magnets around which the iron filings of apparently discrete experience can be patterned for the exercise of Applied Poetics . This, in turn, can help to structure future lucid dreams and to give the proper pointers to acts and events of serendipity, helping the dreamer to negotiate more effectively the dramatic conventions of consensus reality without becoming irretrievably bound by those of scientific rationalism.

This flexibility constitutes the basic pre-condition for the activity of paradigm shift, a fundamental technique of applied chaos theory .
