[edit] The Limehouse Time Travel Rally

(Leaflet issued in 1992)

In 1992 the London Psychogeographical Association was sucked back into the real world after 35 years of non-existence at the cave at Roisia’s Cross.

The first anniversary was celebrated with the Limehouse Rally, building on the work of the Situationist International, who held their 4th Conference there, 24th - 28th September 1960.

By folding time back upon itself the Limehouse Time-Travel Rally will raise our powers manyfold.

[edit] Situationist Theory and Time Travel - from Berger and Luckman to Ryne

[edit] Origins of the Voodoo Science Club

"Questions of psychological status cannot be decided without recognising the reality-definitions that are taken for granted in the social situation of the individual. To put it more sharply, psychologiacl status is relative to the social definitions of reality in general and is itself socially defined."
"Psychological theories may be empirically adequate or inadequate, by which we do not mean their adequacy in terms of the procedural canons or empirical science, but rather, as interpretive schemes applicable by the expert or the layman to empirical phenomena in everyday life. For example, a psychological theory positing demonical possession is unlikely to be adequate in interpreting the identity problems of middle-class, Jewish intellectuals in New York City. These people simply do not have an identity capable of producing phenomena that could be so interpreted. The demons, if such they are seem to avoid them. On the other hand, psycho-analysis is unlikely to be adequate for the interpretation of identity problems in rural Haiti, while some sort of Voudun psychology might supply interpretive schemes with a high degree of empirical accuracy."

[edit] Towards a Situationist Theory of Precognition

"We already know that we are able to have mental visions, and that we are able to plan ahead and perform complicated theoretical calculations to achieve what we had planned. Thus we can imagine situations that have not yet taken place. Seen from this point of view, it does not seem unreasonable that one should be able to imagine situations that already exist. This does not happen in the same way, because the element which Lodvar receives his impulses from, has a more spontaneous quality about it. The ability to see a situation in your mind, is a fascinating way of solving problems, and it makes you wonder why so little research has been done on this subject as yet. Is it too difficult and abstract? Or is there a reluctance regarding this area which emantes from the sombre history of the fate of those who could see more than others in times gone by? These people were as we know, burnt at the stake, to ward off their evil powers."

[edit] The Cave at Roisia’s Cross in the History of the World

an expose of a Rosicrucian mystery

The figure of Christian Rosencreutz was projected into the public consciousness in the early seventeenth century with the publication of the notorious Rosicrucian Manifestos: the Fama Fraternitatis (1614) and the Confessio Fraternitatis (1615) soon to be augmented by The Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosencreutz (1616). They caused a furore as Germany was plunged into the Thirty Year War - a war that left Germany devastated. In her book The Rosicrucian Enlightenment, Frances Yates has established how these pamphlets were linked to the marriage of Frederick V of the Palatinate to Princess Elizabeth, the daughter of James I. The Fama relates a story of a cave which the mysterious brotherhood discovered. In the middle of a seven sided room, decorated with an array of signs there is found the tomb of Rosencreutz. They open the tomb to discover a perfectly preserved body clutching a parchment:

"A grain buried in the breast of Jesus C, Rosy C. sprung from the noble and renowned German family of R. C.; a man admitted into the mysteries and secrets of heaven and earth through the divine relations, subtle cogitations and unwearied toil of his life. In his journeys through Arabia and Africa he collected a treasure surpassing that of Kings and Emperors; but finding it not suitable for his times, he kept it guarded for posterity to uncover, and appointed loyal and faithful heirs of his arts and also of his name. He constructed a microcosm corresponding in all motions to the macrocosm and finally drew up this compendium of things past present and to come. Then, having now passed the century of years, though oppressed by no disease, which he had neither felt in his own body nor allowed to attack others, but summoned by the Spirit of God, amid the last embraces of his brethren he rendered up his illuminated soul to God his creator. A beloved Father, an affectionate Brother, a faithful Teacher, a loyal friend, he was hidden by his disciples for 120 years."

From details in the Confessio it is possible to determine the date of death as 1484, placing the date of the discovery of the Rosicrucian vault at 1604.

In 1603 King James VI of Scotland came to England to become James I of England. On the evening of April 30th, King James approached Royston and was conducted to home of Robert Chester, which he liked so much that he resolved to make a Royal residence. Frances Yates has gone on at length about the involvement of the Rosicrucians with marriage of his daughter, Elizabeth to Frederick - who was soon to be crowned King of Bohemia in an attempt to seize control of the Holy Roman Empire for the protestant cause. Her research has been backed up by Ron Heisler, who has shown that the prominent Rosicrucian came from the palatinate to vsit England at the time of the wedding. Local historian, Joseph Beldam, writing in 1863 gives a very interesting account of what happened at Royston:

"In January 1612-13, an event occurred at Royston of the deepest and most lasting interest to the nation. The Queen herself being adverse to the union of her daughter with the Prince Palatine, the King retired to Royston with Lord Rochester in order to negotiate at leisure the preliminaries of the marriage between Princess Elizabeth and the Palgrave, the ancestors of our most gracious Queen. It was here that the King signed the agreement for dower. And after the marriage which was celebrated on St Valentine's day 1613, the King, the Prince Palatinate and Prince Charles returned to Royston preparatory to a visit to the University of Cambridge. The whole nation rejoiced in this match, as being likely to establish the Protestant religion on a firmer foundation; and on this auspicious occasion it may be worth remembering , that the Archibishop who officiated pronounced an almost prophetic blessing, in the following words
"The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob bless these nuptials, and make them prosperous to these kingdoms and to this church."

(Royston Court House and its Appertances).

Following the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, Frederick was defeated and had to flee into exile. The Rosicrucian revolution was over. The cave remained obscure for another 120 years until 1742 when it was rediscovered when they wer making more seating for market traders at the Royston Butter market. The cave was visited by notables and opened to the public in 1790. Nowadays it is open at the weekends in the summer so why not come and join us on Saturday August 23rd

[edit] Who Are The Freemasons of the Future?

The first and most salient fact about the Freemasons of the Future is that they do not exist. However they are sentient beings trying to struggle into existence. From their perspective they are involved in a life and death struggle to ensure their own past, some of which we perceive as the present. Located in the distant future after time travel has become commonplace they endeavour to sojourn into what they regard as history to create the conditions which they consider as necessary for their own existence. But this does not mean they are going to be successful.

They justify their existence upon their existence, which they consider self-evident. The current conditions of life are to be extrapolated into the future until every quanta of human activity has been commodified: from genetic engineering to nanotechnology, the search for profitability is projected in every conceivable way. A world where sentient scraps of human biology exists as islands of wetware within the framework of vast cathedrals of computerised electronics. The distinction between human, animal and machine is dissolved as these products of bio-engineering are installed to fulfil operative functions within a nauseous system developed to do nothing but to manifest continuously expanding value. Whether we can regard such creatures as our offspring, or whether they are simply genetically engineered mutant beings created out of this or that strand of DNA perhaps is beside the point. This is the nightmare world to which we are heading, and which would provide the sort of massive bio-computer needed by the Freemasons of the Future to realise their greatest desire: unequivocal existence.

Faced with this onslaught which we can see around us, as all barriers to genetic engineering are torn down one by one, how can we respond? The class struggle now manifests itself in dimensions which have recently been invaded by the process of industrialisation.

From the industrialisation of the imagination, through television, to the industrialisation of knowledge through the internet, the information age has taken over from the Age of Steam, the Age of Petrol and even the Atomic Age. The current episode we are living through is rattling asunder as the ripples of the QuantumTimeBomb penetrate the deepest recesses of human activity.
