CrCommercialCommonsMuteMixReAttribution

Mute magazine published an article by the faculty of Collaborative Research and unfortunately gave attribution to SaulAlbert who had kicked off the text, which was then added to by many other uo interlopers. The attribution of the site read:

> WEBEXCLUSIVE // Commercial Commons 23.11.04

>Creative Commons advertise their licenses as a best-of-both-worlds between copyright and the public domain. But is the >word 'commons' then a misnomer, and can such licensing be subjected to the same abuse as copyright? Saul Albert raises >the question followed by a discussion within the University of Openess Wiki >by Saul Albert & University of Openess Wiki users

The UoHc contacted mute and asked for for the text to be re-attributed. It now reads:

>by researchers at the Economic Observatory of the University of Openess

Which seems to make more sense, although even this activity performed by the UoHc is potentially suspect in that effacing percieved authorship and naming or representing 'participation' can be another mechanism for accruing reputation in an exploitative way. Mechanisms for defusing this situation are being developed by the UoPublishing wing.
