[edit] Cartographic Congress Planning

The Cartographic Congress is organised by the Uo. There are a core of organisers who have been working on it, but as it is a Uo project, it should be as distributed as possible. The Congress and its remit is important to many people, so it you have a burning desire to get involved on an organisational level, please communicate about it on the Uo mailing list. Saul and Simon (saul@twenteenthcentury.com, simon@metamute.com have been keeping track of things, so if you want to get up to speed, feel free to email them with questions / ideas that you don't feel comfortable distributing to everyone.1

So far there have been a number of small meetings and discussions, the notes from the first organisational meeting are on the CcMeetingOne page and subsequent meetings are listed below.

[edit] Meetings

No to meetings. One to plan infrastructure, one to finalise when it's all sorted. Then we go for it. Good ideas don't need meetings!

[edit] ToDoList

Here's a to do list.. there are many like it, but this one is ours.

[edit] Production Team

setting up AV equipment on the day, helping mapmakers install their maps

[edit] AV

  • Sam
  • Jon

[edit] Liason

liasing with mapmakers / production team and keeping them up to date with progression.

  • Saul (saul@twenteenthcentury.com)
  • Simon (simon@metamute.com)

[edit] Catering

making / buying food for event days / evenings.

  • Kate & Sneha(1 week)
  • Saul (1 week)

[edit] Publication

  1. designing / preparing / editing / producing CC publication
  2. designing / funding / organising flyer production
  • Ben Walker
  • Nick Fry

[edit] PR

press releases, networking, mailing to lists etc... It has been suggested that this might be unnecessary as hopefully the 6 weeks will pick up a following of interest (especially if Dorkbot plugs it) so a few posts to mailing lists may be enough.

  • Leonard?

[edit] Production Management

  • event co-ordination on the day. making sure that everything runs smoothly on event days. Again, this might not be necessary if everything is lightly organised (a meal and a field trip organised by specific participants rather than done centrally)
  • however, for Limehouse based events, Saul will do it, and maybe the rest of the Town Hall contingent will be up for it too...

[edit] Wiki Gardening

ensuring the wiki is up to date and generally developing the wiki as a cartographic resource list.

  • Saul
  • everyone and anyone, of course.

1 I hope (saul.. that is) that this is'nt overly controlling, any other ideas on how to move the project along without that individual link are appreciated, I think this is a fairly practical solution for the time being.
