[edit] What
An extended show-n-tell sweatshop for collaborative mapmakers, geo-wankers and revolting geographers of all kinds.
This is an opportunity to hear from new projects, people and problems, but also continues some of the fun that was had at the CartographicCongress in London, and the Locative meetings in Karosta earlier this summer. We still need to assemble a good programme, so please do send out an invitation to your collaborators and friends.
[edit] suggested format:
Lightning presentations (5-10 mins max) for the first hour. Then general discussion for the last half. More in-depth and divergant discussions can take place throughout the conference and at related events (see below).
[edit] Where & When
This event will take place on Friday September 12th from 15.30 - 17.00 at De Salon in De Balie, Kleine gartmanplantsoen 10, Amsterdam following Brain Holmes' & Bureau des Etudes' Tactical Cartography workshop.
[edit] Who?
Add yourself if you want to come, add people you want to come to the wishlist. Move yourself from the wishlist to confirmed if you're coming.
[edit] Context
Many of this workshop's participants anticipate the development of cartographic and wireless tactical media tools based on a near future vision of the net that is locally centered on individuals and communities in space. While this practical focus on emergent technologies may be peripheral to debates elsewhere in N5M, the workshop is, nonetheless, concerned with tool building with a socially responsible, if not explicitly activist agenda.
