Only a short venture - one stop between Clapham South and Clapham Common. AAY is driving me onto the buses!
It's also made me hyper-aware of streetside billboards, which are starting to cause the AAY reflex as well, despite the fact that the original AAY proposal only applied to images forced at me on the Tube.
Verts seem to have a psychic signature, they vibrate at a particular frequency or something like that that flags instantly that they're verts. Is there a programming-name for code whose function is to refer elsewhere, like a page-redirect, or one of those spam-popups that redirects your browser to the parasite page? Billboard styling (spatial spam) refers relentlessly elsewhere - or it seems to refer elsewhere but in a sense only refers to itself and its function of educating (drawing out) desire. It's greedy and selfish, like an ogling loner at a fetish club, desiring attention but unable to give anything in return. "Impatience is a virtue", says the latest bus-stop beauty as I wait for the 155.
Relentlessly aspirational, constantly complaining by implication, verts are the opposite of Zen. The only option is refusal. Jo wrote about wanting to find more zen-like ways of combating their psychic spam...I wonder how long AAY would need to be practiced consciously and with effort before it just became habit?
